The month of August brings with it patriotic fervour and the true sentiment of being a proud Indian.GD Goenka Public School Model Town Junior celebrated 76th Independence Day which is themed as “Nation First, Always First” with great fervor and enthusiasm from 7.08.23 to 11.08.23. The school campus was beautifully decorated with balloons, display boards to commemorate the celebration.
Glimpses of celebration:
Flameless cooking – tricolor sandwich – KG Grade
Hands on learning being forte of our school and with an idea to imbibe values of tricolor flag and its colors. Students of KG grade learning the steps of making tricolor sandwich and relished preparing and eating tri color sandwich. Students were also encouraged to make variations of tri color sandwiches using various vegetables and herbs at home with their parents.
Patang craft – KG Grade
“A kite flies high having trust and faith on the string to which it is tied.”
Students enjoyed refining their fine motor skills and were engaged in tearing and pasting on kite with tri colours. Students were encouraged to make pictures like good habits, clean India, my family etc. And fly their kites over weekend with the help of their parents.

Independence Day Competition – Nursery and Kindergarten Grade
Speaking improves the communication skills, boosts confidence and build leadership qualities in children. Young enthusiasts of our school actively participated in the Independence Day competition. It was a worth watching day to see our little Goenkans dressed up as national symbols, freedom fighters, tricolour flag and many more. Some of them spoke about roles of freedom fighters, some students recited rhymes and some students sand melodious songs to present and express their character.

The aforementioned quote rightly says that, art not only highlights our creative aspect, but it also expresses one’s inner feelings and desires. In this regard, Goenkans enjoyed making Independence Day scene and expressed their creativity at its best. They articulated their familiarity and understanding of independence in their own way and drew flag, kites, happy faces in their drawings and colour them as well.

Coated with pride, our tricolour is a symbol of unity in diversity
Children enjoyed doing q tip printing in cap with tri colour holds great significance for the people for the India and represents the ideals, history and aspirations of the nation. The flag’s colours and design reflect the diversity of India’s culture, languages, religions and traditions.

Special assembly – Grade Nursery and KG
A special assembly was held in school wherein students of grade Nursery and Kindergarten exhibited their potential by participating in plethora of activities. The assembly commenced with the reciting of gayatri mantra and prayer. The little children endeared one and all with their melodious voice and diction. The young Goenkans interpreted various connotations of freedom and depicted the same through theatrical. The little ones enthralled everyone with their confidence, gait and jig. This was followed by a dance medley based on the theme of Courage, Determination and Patriotism. The dance was much appreciated by all evoking a sense of pride and joy of being an Indian. Group song presentation and instrumental music presentation set the nationalist mood.
Story of freedom – Nursery
Freedom is not the right to do as you please; it is the liberty to do as you ought.
Story of Aazadi ki kaahani was narrated by the teacher in which she spoke about the meaning of Independence and the symbols of valiant sacrifice of our freedom fighters and the people of India to attain freedom from British rule.
The spirit of freedom by our forefathers, was celebrated with a lot of zeal and patriotic sentiments.
